This standard covers backwater prevention systems that use sensors, controls and mechanisms forthe prevention of backflow for sanitary drainage and storm systems and specifies minimum requirementsfor materials, mechanical, electrical, performance tests and markings.
The purpose of this Standard is to enhance health and safety by:

a) Specifying acceptable criteria for sensor operated backwater prevention systems;
b) Serving as a guide for producers, distributors, architects, engineers, contractors, installers,inspectors and users; and
